Valdir Raul Steuernagel is World Vision International’s Theologian at Large. He came to this position after having spent several years as the Vice-President for Christian Commitments, and the Chair of the Board of World Vision International.
Valdir holds a PhD degree from the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. Some of his books and many articles have been published in Portuguese, Spanish, English and German. He has preached and led conferences throughout Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the United States.
He is currently a member of the International Council of the World Evangelical Alliance and the Lausanne Movement for World Evangelization.
Valdir and his wife Silêda, who were both staff-workers for the Brazilian movement of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students, have ministered together in Christian gatherings throughout Brazil, as well as led retreats on spirituality, relationships and family within WVI.
They live in Curitiba, Brazil, and have four sons (Marcell, Marcos Davi, Márcio André and Maicon) and three grandchildren.
