John O. Smith is a native of Guyana South America. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour in his teens. After High School he worked with the Government of Guyana for 4 years before accepting the call to full time ministry as an Assistant Pastor.
He served in this capacity for 8 years and then became Senior Pastor of Central Assembly, Georgetown, Guyana a capacity in which he still serves. He graduated from the Assemblies of God Bible College in 1967, as the valedictorian.
John is the current General Superintendent of the AOG in Guyana having served in several capacities on the Executive. He also served 2 terms as Chairman of the Guyana Evangelical Fellowship and is the vice Chairman of the Evangelical Association of the Caribbean.
He serves on many International Boards including the International Third World Leaders Association and the World Assemblies of God Fellowship.
He holds B.A. degrees in History and Theology and M.A. degree in Theology. He teaches in the Bible School and the Caribbean School of Theology. He has ministered and taught extensively in many countries.
Rev. Smith is married to Jean and they have 2 children Shelley and Andre.
