Asia Evangelical Alliance Calls to Watch and Pray for Myanmar and the World

September 11, 2017

The nations of the world and their people are passing through tragic times of man-made causes of extreme pain, suffering and death. We are reminded of the teachings of Jesus to his disciples, "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak" (Matthew 26:11)

The atrocity of displaced persons throughout our world asks God's people to be on the watch. As we offer our prayers with insight to act with our Saviour's intervention we do not discriminate. Suffering comes to all ages, religions and classes and so our prayers groan with all of creation in seeking hope.

We believe in living the example of our Lord God who compels us to view: “The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself,” (Leviticus 19:34). It does not matter what age, class, ethnicity or religion the refugees belong to. To love God is to love others in their longing for homes in communities of stability, acceptance with a promised future.

The AEA calls upon governments and society to examine their influence by watching and praying to bring about truth and justice leading to peace and reconciliation.

Issued on behalf of AEA.
