The WEA (World Evangelical Alliance) International Director Dr. Geoff Tunnicliffe joined the Christian Council of Korea’s (CCK) 20th anniversary celebratory event, “The Night of Korean Church,” on the evening of December 8, 2009 in Seoul, South Korea.

The CCK, a national alliance which is part of the WEA, is a Korean Christian body with a membership of 66 denominations and 19 organizations.

Dr. Tunnicliffe congratulated CCK in his speech delivered to 890 leaders at the event.

“The Christian Council of Korea, launched by the leaders with a vision 20 years ago, has networked the Korean Church into one,” stated Dr. Tuniccliffe. “Because they became one, God’s history and the mission ministry could develop even more. I could clearly sense that God has blessed the CCK.”

Rev. Dr. Sang-Bok Kim, the WEA Chairman, Mr. John E. Langlois, a member of the WEA International Council, and Mr. Shuichi Nakajima, the Japan Evangelical Association Chairman, were also at the event.

“I was pleased to bring a congratulatory address at the 20th Anniversary of the Christian Council of Korea,” said Dr. Tunnicliffe upon his return from Korea. “In 20 short years CCK has become the most prominent association of churches in Korea representing over 12 million Christians.

“I was particularly encouraged by their work of integrated mission. They have a strong commitment to the authority of scripture and responding to the needs within society.  We are delighted that CCK became an official member of WEA this year and we are looking forward to their greater involvement in our global ministries.”

The National Assembly Chairman Hyung-oh Kim also brought congratulations to the event. South Korean President Myung-bak Lee and Rev. Yonggi Cho of Yoido Full Gospel Church were not present but congratulated CCK in prepared remarks.

Dr. Tunnicliffe will travel to New York on December 19th for his last trip of the year.
