Center for Information Technologies

October 13, 2005

For Immediate Release

In keeping with its long-ranging goal to take communications and networking “to a whole new level,” the World Evangelical Alliance recently established a state-of-the-art Center for Information Technologies (CIT) in the city of San Francisco, just neighboring Silicon Valley – the birthplace of modern-day technology – with the help of partners Olivet University and The Christian Post International.

According to Geoff Tunnicliffe, International Director for the WEA, the CIT will provide four key services: expand the internal and external communications for the Alliance; assist regions, commissions and national alliances with their information technology needs; build an effective global network for the voice of WEA in both the secular and Christian media; and develop a digitalized library of resources for those who would otherwise lack access to critical information.

“As you recall at the meetings in Florida, our commitment was to expand the internal and external communications of the WEA,” Tunnicliffe said in reference to a pivotal international conference held in Florida earlier this year. “This I believe is a significant answer to our prayers. In fact, the Lord is providing above and beyond our expectations.”

The new center is located on the campus of
Olivet University, an evangelical Christian university in downtown San Francisco, and will be fully funded by the Christian Post International – an affiliate of the WEA. It marks the first joint undertaking by the Alliance and the University, which is providing over 30 IT developers and designers for the newly dedicated office.

Supporters of the new venture are looking forward to the new opportunities a strong technology team will bring to the international alliance.

"We believe this new Information Technology Centre will be a very important tool in assisting the global church in building more effective ties that will lead to greater connectiveness and strategic partnerships,” said Tunnicliffe. “Our prayer is that through these partnerships God’s Kingdom will be advanced."
